Love as a Child of God

Carol Swift - Swift Steps ForwardFrom the time we are small children we are taught that being a ” couple” is the most fulfilling of relationships. We search for the perfect person we think will make us “happy”. Into this relationship, things begin to sour because this one extra special person can not make us “happy”. Some people are lucky enough to be in a relationship where the two people both want to work on the details together, with a real genuine give and take. In other relationships , it is a one sided, self promoted dictatorship and the dreams slip away. Our Father God created mankind, each of us, in His image and loves us just because we are His precious Child. We gloss over this daily and only infrequently look to Him for the perfect love that He placed in our hearts at conception. Just think if we could value, appreciate , lean on this great unconditional Love, live into it, then we could reach the Perfect Love we are desiring and share it with our loves ones. We will never be disappointed in this ultimate relationship. This does not mean that God gives us everything we think we want, but He does provide that which we Need because of His unconditional love. If we could model this love in our human relationships after recognizing and receiving this great Love from Him, then we could flourish!! If we are not in a current relationship and we actually practiced this unconditional love with God and ourselves, we could then love others and Our Heavenly Father with the Great Peace and Joy that He meant for all of us! This powerful gift of Love should be at the heart of our lives on all levels of relationships. Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus declared,” Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is equally important:” Love your neighbor as yourself.”
